Opinion on Algorithm Interviews

I don't like the current situation that many companies are hiring with a very difficult algorithm interview. For me the high-level algorithm questions are like "how to re-invent the wheel", and this kind of interview pushes us to spend more time on exercises like leetcode. For me leetcode is like a puzzle/game instead of learning material or interview question bank. I liked his video a lot because @Arjan never @Arjan have never talked about this algorithm training. The essence of programming is the more of the big vision for problem-solving instead of learning some rarely used algorithms. My intention was that @Arjan can interview the interviewers for us, individual inexperienced programmers, so that we will not fall into the trap of learning infinite high-level algorithm. There are too many ways to test the level of the programmer such as test week or interviews with real projects. Also BenAwad's ideas speaks the same.

Pros:

  • For @Arjan: he can earn a decent amount from recommendation bonus.
  • For the good companies that don't have such a hard interview: they will have a easier and faster recruiting session.
  • For the us / programmers community: less new programmers can avoid wasting time on difficult algorithms.

Cons:

  • @Arjan will spend more time apart from the job and running the channel, although earning some extra.
  • Maybe this is too big to squeeze into one discord server.

I'm more than happy to see that @Arjan can earn more by running this channel so that I can have more videos to eat with. XD
